Fountainhead MKTG conceptualises, designs and produces Khelo India Youth Games 2019 Opening Ceremony

The second edition of Khelo India Youth Games 2019 commenced in Pune’s Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium on January 09, 2019.

The opening ceremony was broadcasted live on Star Sports & Hotstar and was conceptualised and produced by Fountainhead MKTG from the Dentsu Aegis Network.

The ceremony was graced by Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State (I/C) Youth Affairs & Sports, MoS (I/C) Information & Broadcasting & Shri. Vinod Tawde amongst several other eminent dignitaries from the Sports Authority of India.   P. Gopichand, Deepa Karmarkar, Vinesh Phogat, Sushil Kumar, were also present. The opening ceremony was attended by over 3000 invitees including several young athletes from across the country.

Fountainhead MKTG left no stone unturned in conceptualising an immersive & engaging ceremony. Unlike ceremonies in the past, Khelo India Youth Games 2019 was filled with raw gusto & passion as a result of implementing a state-of-the-art, technologically driven ceremony.

For the very first time, the ceremonial torch relay was technologically curated, along with a set of travelators and projection mapping. Bearing KIYG’s torch in their hands, the athlete's ran across all states of India.

Inspired by Khelo India’s anthem, ‘Khelo India, Saath Mein Hain Hum’, Fountainhead MKTG centred the ceremony around the theme, ‘Sapne Bhare Udaan’. Shaan rendered his voice for thetheme song.  The stage was designed as an elevated slope, which not only functioned as a backdrop, but was also brought to life as a performance area.

The acts highlighted the value of sports in our lives & successfully struck an emotional chord with the young athletes. Inspired by aerial yoga, the audience was fascinated by thedisplay of the games’ acronym, KIYG. The grand finale was scripted to depict the ‘Journey of a Champion’ using specially designed visual content.  It was Fountainhead MKTG’s artistic interpretation of Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore’s vision and an ode to the ecosystem that surrounds and eventually builds a champion. Amitabh Bachchan was thenarrator of the final act. Audience engagement was further enhanced with the use of radio-controlled LED wristbands that changed as per the show content. The openingceremony was hosted by Aparshakti Khurana & Geetika Ganju and also saw Shri. Devendra Fadnavis announce a sports university to be built in Aurangabad by the Maharashtra government and the initiative to raise funds for encouraging sports in the state.

The opening ceremony officially kicked off the 12-day extravaganza for over 6,000 Under-17 and Under-21 athletes.
